Two list books
Firsts Magazine took three of the lists – the Random House 100 best novels of the century list, the Waterstone’s 100 greatest list and the Radcliffe Publishing Course Top 100 Novels of the 20th Century – and combined them, coming up with two separate lists – this one, which is the books that appear in two of the three lists and a separate one of books appearing in all three lists. The good news is that there are more women on this list but, sadly, everyone is anglophone. Interestingly, Firsts Magazine describes the Random House 100 best novels of the century list as a pathetic display of feeblemindedness, the omissions from the Waterstone’s 100 greatest list, which was compiled from a reader survey and not by “experts”, turns out to have the clearest vision, but only for 50 titles or so, and then not in any particular order; the others are strictly from Alice in Wonderland’s list. This is the list of books appearing in two of the three lists.
