1. Only one book per author per list, unless otherwise stated.
2. Only books first published in the 20th or 21st centuries, unless otherwise stated. For those that do not know, the 20th century started on 1 January 1901 and not on 1 January 1900.
3. Only books defined, more or less, as novels (i.e. prose fiction of at least 100 pages in length), unless otherwise stated.
4. Lists given by alphabetical order of author, not by order of rating, unless otherwise stated.
5. All rules are made to be broken.
