Native American Renaissance
A term coined by UCLA professor Kenneth Lincoln in his seminal work of the same title. His book, according to the introduction was intended to trace the connective the threads between the cultural past and its expression in the present. It focused on the explosion of Native American writing in 1960s and 190s, partially explained by the fact that many Native Americans of that generation were the first to receive a full education in English. In addition, there were now several native American departments in US universities.
