Biography

Luigi Meneghello was born in Malo, Vicenza in 1922. He studied classics in Vicenza and then philosophy in Padua. His writing has mainly been centred on rural settings and everyday life. His books mix Italian, the Vicenza dialect and English. He has lived for many years in England, mainly in Reading, where he originally went in 1947 on a British Council scholarship and taught at the University of Reading, where he set up the Italian Department. Latterly he spent half the year in London and half in Thiene, in Italy. He died in 2007.
