Biography
Thanassis Valtinos was born Athanasios Spanos in 1932 inKastri, Kynouria. The family moved around during the years of occupation and the civil war. He attended courses at the Political Science department of the Pantheon, at the philosophy school of the University of Athens and at a cinema school. He later travelled to Germany, the UK and the USA. His first published writing was a short story . He then translated various works from Ancient Greek. As well as stories and novels he also wrote for the theatre and cinema. He won many prizes for his screenplays and books. Several of his works have been translated into English, French and German. He died in 2024
