Biography

Samantha Harvey was born in 1975 in Tonbridge, Kent. She grew up in Ditton, near Maidstone, Kent. Her father was a builder. Her parents divorced. Her mother then moved to Ireland. She spent her teen years moving around, including Sheffield and Japan She studied philosophy at the University of York and the University of Sheffield and then took an MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University.
and is a Reader in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. She has written five novels and one non-fiction work on her insomnia. Her novel Orbital won the Booker Prize in 2024.
