Rachel Joyce
Biography
Rachel Joyce was born in London in 1962. Her father was an architect and her mother a teacher. She read English at Bristol University and then trained as an actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). She acted in the theatre, including with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She gave up acting soon after having children and took to writing for the radio (she is married to the the actor, Paul Venables.) She has written over twenty radio plays, including To Be a Pilgrim, which she later converted into the novel The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.
