Maki Kashimada
Biography
Maki Kashimada was born in 1976 in Tokyo. Her interest in Dostoevsky when young, led her to join the Japanese Orthodox Church and be baptised when aged seventeen. At Shirayuri Women’s University she studied French literature and wrote her thesis on Julia Kristeva. While still at university she wrote her first work for which she won a prize. She has since gone on to write several succesful works, which have won prizes. Her first marriage was to a Japanese Orthodox clergyman. She has since remarried.
