Jeet Thayil
Biography
Jeet Thayil was born in Kerala in 1959. His father is T J S George, the noted author, columnist and biographer. As his father was frequently posted abroad Thayil was mainly educated abroad, taking an MFA from Sarah Lawrence college. He has worked as a journalist, an editor, a musician (one half of Sridhar/Thayil), librettist (for the opera Babur in London) and a performance poet. He has published poetry and one novel. He has also admitted to both alcohol and drug addiction (the latter being the subject of his novel).
