Oum Suphany
Biography
Oum Suphany was born in Phnom Penh in 1946. She was one seven sisters. Her parents and four of her sisters were all killed during the Khmer Rouge period. She studied archaeology at the University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh before the Khmer Rouge period. After the Khmer Rouge period, she became a vice director of the Office for Research and Technology of the Department of Conservation of the Ministry of Culture and later was responsible for conservation at the royal palaces. As well as writing many novels, she has also written poetry, painted and composed music.
