Najwa Barakat
Biography
Najwa Barakat was born in 1966 in Beirut. She took a graduate degree in theatre studies from the Beirut Fine Arts Institute, followed by a degree in film studies from the Sorbonne University and a diploma from the Free Institute of French Cinema in Paris. She has since worked as a freelance journalist in Paris, where she moved in 1985 after the war in Lebanon. She has written film scripts, novels (including one in French) and has translated Camus’ diaries into Arabic.
