Barbara Gowdy
Biography
Barbara Gowdy was born in 1950 in Windsor, Ontario. She studied theatre at York University. After divorcing her husband, she worked at the publishers, Lester and Orpen Dennys, eventually becoming managing editor. She subsequently became a reporter for TVOntario’s literary program Imprint. Her writings are full of black humour and obsessed with the grotesque and deformed bodies.
