Horacio Castellanos Moya
Biography
Horacio Castellanos Moya was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1957 but his family moved to San Salvador when he was four. He went to York University in Toronto, before returning to the National University in San Salvador. After working for a year as a proofreader in San José, Costa Rica, he worked for ten years as an editor for the El Salvador Press Agency in Mexico City. It was there that he wrote his first novel, about the exile of Salvadorans during the upheaval in El Salvador. He returned to El Salvador after the civil war, in 1992 where he worked for a weekly magazine. He then went to Spain, back to Mexico City and then to Frankfurt. He now lives in Pittsburgh. He has written stories, novels and poetry.
