Mohamed Mbougar Sarr

Biography

Mohamed Mbougar Sarr was born in 1990 Diourbel. His father was a doctor. He initially studied in Senegal but then moved to France. He attended the École des hautes études en sciences sociales where his research focussed on Léopold Sédar Senghor. However, he dropped out to focus on his writing. He has since written four novels, one of which has been translated into English. His La Plus Secrète Mémoire des hommes [The Most Secret Memory of Men] won the Prix Goncourt. The novel was inspired by the fate of the Malian writer Yambo Ouologuem.
