A. M. Homes

Biography

A(my). M(ichael). Homes was born in Washington, D.C. in 1961. She took a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. She has taught creative writing in various US institutions. Her novels, while receiving critical acclaim, have sometimes been criticised for their dark and often brutal outlook. As well as novels, she has written for TV and journalism. She won The Women’s Prize for Fiction for May We Be Forgiven in 2013.
