Charles Frazier
Biography
Frazier was born in 1950 and grew up in North Carolina. He did his B.A. and M.A. at Chapel Hill and went to the University of South Carolina to do his Ph.D. in twentieth-century American literature, which he got in 1986. He taught at the University of Colorado at Boulder and at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. His first novel was Cold Mountain, a Civil War book based on stories passed down by his great-great-grandfather.
