Leila Aboulela
Biography
Leila Aboulela was born in Cairo in 1964. Her mother was Sudan’s first woman demographer. She grew up in Khartoum and studied economics at Khartoum University and then statistics at the London School of Economics. She started writing while living in Aberdeen with her young children, while her husband worked off-shore. She has written novels and short stories.
