Juan Marsé
Biography
Juan Marsé was born in Barcelona in 1933. He worked in the jewellery trade from the age of thirteen, till he became a professional writer in 1959. He wrote primarily in a realist style, using satire, though his later works were more complex. He was concerned with the themes of sexuality and associated guilt as well as social criticism. He died in 2020.
