Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Biography

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was born in 1977 in Enugu, Nigeria. Her father was a professor of statistics at the University of Nigeria and her mother the first female registrar at the university. She initially studied medicine and pharmacy at the University of Nigeria, before moving to the United States, where she studied communications and political science at Drexel and then Eastern Connecticut State University. She later completed a master’s in creative writing from Johns Hopkins and a master’s in African Studies from Yale. Her first published writings were poetry and a play, before she successfully published short stories. She has since written three acclaimed novels.
