Nocilla generation

The Nocilla generación is a generation of Spanish writers born around 1970. Nocilla is a chocolate/hazelnut spread, beloved in Spain, and the title of a trilogy of novels by Agustín Fernández Mallo called Nocilla Dream (the Spanish book has an English title). (He has since written books called Nocilla Experience and Nocilla Lab.) As well as Fernández Mallo, the group includes Jorge Carrión, Vicente Luis Mora, Eloy Fernández Porta, Roberto-Juan Cantavella, Milo Krmpotic, Lolita Bosch, Javier Calvo, Domenico Chiappe, Gabi Martínez, Álvaro Colomer, Germán Sierra, Diego Doncel, Mercedes Cebrián, Mario Cuenca, Salvador Gutiérrez Solís, Manuel Vilas, Harkaitz Cano and Juan Francisco Ferré, who are, for the most part, not known outside Spain and, in many cases, little known in Spain. Common themes include transient characters with few ties, borrowings from other works, new technologies, mash-ups and zapping, experimental novels with little or no plot and no obvious ending. Other commonalities are the use of blogs and publication in small presses
