Biography
Margarita Liberaki (née Lymberakis) was born in 1919 in Athens. Her mother was a writer and her sister later became a sculptor. Her parents divorced when she was a child and she was raised by her maternal grandparents. Her grandfather was a publisher and owned a book shop. She studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She married a lawyer/poet and wrote her first novel using her married name. She wrote three further novels, two of which have been translated into English.The couple had a daughter, the writer Margarita Karapanou. but divorced soon after she was born. Liberaki moved to Paris and wrote plays in French and Greek. She died in 2001.
