Vassilis Vassilikos
Biography
Vassilis Vassilikos was born in 1933 in Kavala. His father was a lawyer who later became an MP. He studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and then television directing at the Yale University Drama School. He lived and worked abroad during the dictatorship, mainly in the film industry but also as a journalist, writer and translator. hHe was later Greek ambassador to UNESCO. He wrote over a hundred works, several of which have been translated into English but may be best known for his novel Z whichwas made into a succesfuk film by Costa-Gavras. He died in 2024.
