Biography
Mbarek Ould Beyrouk was born in 1957 in Atar. He studied law at the University of Rabat but then became a journalist. After working for official papers, he founded the first independent Mauritanian newspaper, Mauritanie demain. The former president, Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz, made him an adviser. He has published stories and novels. Four of his novels have been translated into English.
