Generación del Medio Siglo (Generation of the Mid-Century)
This was a loose movement of Mexican writers who were born in the 1930s and started publishing in the 1950s, hence their name, though it also came from a magazine they were associated with called Medio Siglo. Their writing was far more experimental than that of their predecessors and they were more concerned with fine writing. Writers associated with this generation included Huberto Batis, José de la Colina, Sergio Fernández, Jorge Ibargüengoitia, Juan García Ponce, Juan Vicente Melo, Salvador Elizondo, Sergio Pitol, José Emilio Pacheco, Carlos Monsiváis, Inés Arredondo, Julieta Campos, Juan José Gurrola, Carlos Valdés and Tomás Segovia.
