Kazuo Ishiguro
Biography
Kazuo Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki in 1954 and he and his family moved to England in 1960. His parents expected to return to Japan, so he was brought up as a Japanese but they never did go back. He was educated at the University of Kent and the University of East Anglia. His work is typified by characters reconstructing fragments of memory and endeavouring to come to terms with those memories. He has produced a series of carefully written novels which fuse the best of English and Japanese and which will remain as classics for a long time.
