Jonathan Coe
Biography
Jonathan Coe was born in Birmingham in 1961. He worked as a journalist and literary critic for the English newspaper The Guardian and published three not very successful novels, before the publication of What a Carve Up! (called The Winshaw Legacy in the US), one of the best British novels for a long time and certainly the best political novel to come out of Britain for many years. He followed it up with the brilliant-but-not-quite-as-brilliant House of Sleep. He has also published biographies of Jimmy Stewart and Humphrey Bogart.
