Biography

Simon Sellars was born in Melbourne. He took a B.A. from Monash University in Film Studies, comparative literature and a PhD in Cultural Studies, media effects, technology, new media, social media. His thesis was on the writer J G Ballard, entitled The Yes or No of the Borderzone : J.G. Ballard’s Affirmative Dystopias.

After drifting round in various jobs and countries, he started editing and writing for Lonely Planet and has contributed to their publications on the Netherlands, Japan, Micronesia, Micronations and others. He worked at RMIT University, most recently as Senior Digital Analyst, Web Services and Information Policy. He is currently Manager, Content Marketing at La Trobe University He also conceived and co-edited Extreme Metaphors: Interviews with J.G. Ballard 1968–2008. He runs the website Ballardian about Ballard and things Ballardian.
