Gaël Faye
Biography
Gaël Faye was born in Burundi in 1982. His father was French and his mother Rwandan. He moved to France in 1995 after the civil war in Rwanda. He studied finance at a commercial college, obtaining a Master’s in Finance and worked for two years in London for a hedge fund. He then took up writing and music. He formed a hip-hop group, Milk, Coffee and Sugar (link in French) with Edgar Sekloka. Sekloka left the group in 2015. Faye has since recorded on his own and with other artists. He has also written a novel, which has had considerable commercial and critical success and won two major French literary prizes.
